Working at the National Museum of the Marine Corps (NMMC), the Education Special Assistant will perform research on Marine Corps history to present live and asynchronous programs to visitors of all ages, perform video editing, photography, assist with program set up and take down, and greet and monitor school groups. The Education Special Assistant will learn the practice of researching, designing and completing Marine Corps educational programs for Homeschool days, Family days, and adult programming. The Education Special Assistant will develop skills in communicating with various age groups in delivery tours, proper means of greeting and monitoring school groups along with editing video content of school and adult programs. The Education Special Assistant should have experience using video editing software and be comfortable presenting programs in front of a camera.
Fully in-person: This is an in-person position located at 1775 Semper Fidelis Way, Triangle VA 22172.
This position is limited to 29 hours per week with a term not to exceed three years.

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to be in one position for long periods of screen use, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear both in person and over devices. The employee interacts in close spaces and frequently with other workers, vendors, and clients. May be in situations which require conflict resolution. The position works in both an office environment with artificial light and air, and an occasional outside environment with exposure to the elements.
