Sprieser Sporthorse, Marshall Virginia, seeks an apprentice for our top-notch dressage operation. Join our high-energy and fun team in caring for 20 horses and their owners, with opportunities to travel to shows and clinics and learn from the best! This is a paid position with housing provided in beautiful apartments right on the farm. Enjoy working with Lauren, Grand Prix dressage trainer and international competitor, working with lovely horses across all levels and types! Our farm is located in scenic northern Virginia in the heart of hunt country, and in Wellington, Florida during the winter competition season. Absolutely stunning place to work, network and learn more about dressage and the sporthorse.
Apprentices ride, groom, tack, go to shows and clinics, and do other farm chores in a fun, friendly and positive environment. Our apprentices go on to stellar careers both in and out of the horse industry, and many have had the opportunity to compete and earn their USDF medals on client-owned horses.
Special consideration for riders with dressage competition experience, and/or young horse experience. All applicants must have solid flatwork riding skills - a clear and direct approach in driving a horse from leg and seat to hand, and an ability to ride athletic young horses through garden-variety nonsense. If you don't know how to ride a horse on the bit, this isn't the gig for you.
This is also a position with room for growth - almost all of our assistant trainers began as working student interns.
Housing is provided. No pets. Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship. No summer-only candidates; must be interested at least a year-long commitment. Resume and references required when applying.
