Job Description

Maître D’ Wanted, Leadership Role.

Causa/Amazonia is seeking an exceptional Maître D’ to join our leadership team and uphold the highest standards of hospitality within one of Washington DC’s most acclaimed dining experiences. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a refined, detail‑driven environment, excels in guest communication, and brings calm, confident leadership to both the front door and the administrative backbone of service.

About the Role
The Maître D’ serves as the first and last impression of Causa/Amazonia, both virtually and in person. This position blends high‑touch hospitality with structured administrative responsibilities, ensuring every reservation is thoughtfully prepared, every detail is confirmed in advance, and every guest feels personally welcomed and cared for.
You will work closely with the management team, chef, and host staff to deliver a seamless, anticipatory, and gracious guest experience.

Key Responsibilities
1. Reservation Outreach & Guest Communication
• Contact all reservations for the upcoming two weeks via OpenTable, text, phone, and email.
• Call all next‑day reservations following phone‑call protocol, including voicemail and follow‑up email.
• Notify waitlisted guests when tables become available, even if times differ from their request.
• Collect and confirm:
• Allergies for all guests
• Special occasions
• Alcohol preferences
• Respond promptly to guest messages during daily administrative hours.

2. Allergy & Occasion Documentation
• Update the weekly Allergy Sheet and OpenTable notes with:
• Dietary restrictions
• Special occasions
• Communicate updates with management to ensure accuracy and consistency.

3. Special Occasion Letters
• Prepare handwritten celebration letters for the next two weeks.

4. Follow‑Up with Pending Guests
• Reach out to guests who have not responded to finalize details.
• Update all notes in OpenTable and Google Docs.

Daily & Shift Responsibilities
Guest Documentation & Follow‑Up
• Ensure all guest needs are confirmed before arrival—never at the door.
• If information must be confirmed on‑site, communicate discreetly with the host only.
• Use approved language when guests have been unreachable.

Guest Greeting, Introduction & Experience
• Greet guests warmly by name at the main door.
• Maintain a calm, composed, welcoming presence.
• Guide guests to Causa or Amazonia as appropriate.
• Introduce guests to the main dining room, highlighting key ingredients, culinary inspiration, and menu structure with polished, approved language.

• Demonstrate strong working knowledge of the tasting menu, ingredients, and beverage pairings.
• Point out the fish market using subtle, approved verbiage.
• Assist with coats and personal items when appropriate.

What We’re Looking For
• Experience in fine dining or luxury hospitality, and a mastery of OpenTable.
• Exceptional communication skills, written, verbal, and guest‑facing.
• Strong organizational and administrative abilities.
• Grace under pressure and a naturally warm demeanor.
• A leadership mindset with a collaborative spirit.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and guest privacy at all times.
• A passion for creating memorable, personalized guest experiences.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for Peruvian cuisine, ingredients, and culinary storytelling.

**Work Schedule:**

**Physical Requirements:**
- Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours.
- Ability to reach, bend, and lift to 30 pounds frequently.
-Ability to go up and down stairs frequently

**Qualifications:**

If you are ready to elevate the dining experience and be a part of our exceptional team, we’d love to hear from you!
