Pay Rate ($21.50hr - $24hr)

Essential Functions of the Life Skills Instructor:

  • Facilitate 125-150 hours annually of after school programming based on the approved school-based curriculum on the Google Drive to meet the program objectives (key objectives: program referrals vs graduations, reason for referral, community referrals, pretest vs posttest results and involvement with Children & Youth at 6-month, 1 year and 3 years).
  • Ensure the timely & accurate completion of all required paperwork per the LSI Paperwork Guidelines document.
  • Provide a minimum of 8 hours a week of 1-on-1 sessions with the students and/or their families identifying barriers and connecting to resources to alleviate those barriers.
  • Be the primary liaison between the assigned school district’s point person and Valley Youth House ensuring weekly updates are sent, classroom issues are addressed and other day to day class and student needs are addressed.


Minimal Qualifications for the Life Skills Instructor:

  • An associate’s degree in Social Work, Education or other related field. If the degree is in an unrelated field then the candidate must have at least 1 year of experience in Education or the social services field.
  • One or more years experience working with youth and young adults or facilitating groups/events.
  • A valid driver’s license, a motor vehicle report that meets agency requirements and reliable transportation that can safely transport clients if needed.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule that includes evenings.
  • Ability to complete the pre-employment physical and drug test requirements.


Physical Requirements for the Life Skills Instructor:  

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
