Job Description

Blue Matter is a rapidly growing management consultancy focused in the biopharmaceutical industry.  We partner with our clients to help them achieve commercial success across the lifecycle of their products, portfolios, and organizations. Our project types include providing decision support through insights and analytics for new product planning, launch strategy, portfolio / disease area strategy, and organizational strategy / change management. Most of our work is in specialty therapeutics, with oncology and rare diseases a specific area of expertise.

Blue Matter Insights (BMI) is our specialized insights CoE, uniquely combining sophisticated quantitative analytics with strategic pharmaceutical consulting. BMI consultants work side-by-side with strategy team members on high-stakes client engagements. Our lean, entrepreneurial structure accelerates your growth: high performers quickly progress from executing analyses to leading workstreams to managing client relationships. You'll gain exposure to diverse therapeutic areas and challenging problems (launch forecasting, portfolio optimization, omnichannel strategy) while building expertise across proprietary technology platforms and advanced analytical methods. Working directly with senior leaders invested in your development, you'll tackle challenging problems and help build new capabilities that become part of BMI's competitive edge.

We have a unique entrepreneurial culture and invest in building Blue Matter as the best place to work for our team. We have offices in NY, San Francisco, Boston, London, Zurich, Mumbai & Gurgaon.

As a Consultant / Senior Consultant in the Analytics practice, you are a functional expert who designs and delivers analytics-based solutions to complex client needs. You bring deep technical skill, commercial judgment, and the confidence to speak the truth through data, guiding teams and clients toward decisions grounded in evidence.

Primary Responsibilities

Client Delivery & Analytical Solutions

  • Develop and apply advanced statistical models and techniques (e.g., segmentation, regression, conjoint analysis, scenario simulation) to inform commercial decision-making
  • Lead the development of analytical frameworks, dashboards, and tools that enable clients to make data-driven decisions
  • Structure and synthesize complex datasets from 3rd-party sources (IQVIA, Komodo, Veeva, MMIT, claims/EMR data) and internal client databases to generate actionable insights
Communication & Stakeholder Management
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Develop high-quality client deliverables including presentations, written reports, and executive summaries
  • Present analyses and strategic recommendations to client teams, articulating commercial implications with clarity and confidence
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to ensure analytical workstreams align with overall project objectives and timelines
Problem-Solving & Quality
  • Apply structured problem-solving to decompose ambiguous business challenges into executable analytical plans
  • Identify key insights, opportunities, and risks that inform corporate and commercial strategies—always anchoring findings in the “so what”
  • Own analytical rigor and quality control end-to-end throughout the project lifecycle
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance BMI’s analytical approaches, tools, and methodologies
Team Development & Knowledge Sharing
  • Mentor and coach Associates and Associate Consultants on analytical techniques, project execution, and professional development
  • Contribute to BMI’s analytical capabilities through knowledge sharing, training sessions, and best practice development
  • Support recruitment efforts and participate in candidate assessment

  • Proficiency with core 3rd-party datasets (provider unit data, payer access data, analog sales data)
  • Advanced analytical skills including statistical modeling, forecasting, and financial modeling
  • Proficiency with analytical tools (Python, R, SQL, SAS) and visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI)

  • Ability to translate raw data into impactful client presentations with actionable, strategically grounded insights
  • Excellent communication skills across internal and client-facing contexts
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate business and industry knowledge into creative analytical solutions
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and managing competing priorities across multiple workstreams
Qualifications
