Job Overview

Assist in the continued development of the limited representation program and help represent clients under the supervision of a Help Center attorney. 

Essential Functions

 

  • Provide limited same-day legal representation to tenants in eviction court under the supervision of a Help Center attorney.
  • Draft written pleadings, prepare for hearings and otherwise resolve eviction related issues.
  • Assist with outcome tracking.
  • Draft and improve model pleadings.
  • Prepare self-help materials to assist self-represented litigants understand the law, court processes and litigate their cases.
  • Work to identify solutions to address systemic issues faced by self-represented litigants.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Registration for the July 2026 Ohio Bar Examination.

Required Trainings/Certifications

  • Legal Intern Certificate as provided by Rule II of the Ohio Supreme Court Rules for the Government of the Bar of Ohio.

Required Experience

  • At least one (1) semester of externship and/or volunteer experience working with tenants in need of eviction representation

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Experience and/or demonstrated skill development in trial advocacy and negotiation.
  • A demonstratable commitment to serving underserved and vulnerable individuals.
  • Experience building community partnerships.
  • Foreign language abilities.

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
