Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Property Management and Facility Service, the Assistant Director of Facilities is responsible for assisting the Director in overseeing the maintenance, operations, and safety of UHP's facility's buildings, grounds, and equipment. This includes managing daily operations, coordinating construction and renovation projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supervising vendors, security, surveillance, maintenance, and janitorial services vendors. They also play a key role in developing and managing budgets, monitoring work performance, and fostering positive relationships. Specifically, the Assistant Director of Facilities will directly manage UHP environmental health and life safety programs

This is a full time onsite position with a required schedule of Monday through Friday 9am-6pm, with rotating Saturday shifts with a day off during the weekdays.

 

Key Duties:

  • Ensures compliance with applicable Urban Health Plan, Inc. policies and procedures (Life Safety Management Plan, Emergency Action Plan, Emergency Management Plan, and the Incident Command System) necessary to meet requirements of all applicable federal, state, county or standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Assists in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Life Safety, Emergency Management, and the Facilities Department.
  • Manages and promotes UHP fire, life safety and emergency management and prevention programs for all UHP sites.
  • Serves as the technical expert and program team leader, conduct compliance, and risk assessments, and develop and implement policies and procedures to comply with fire, life safety and emergency management regulatory requirements.
  • Investigates code issues, performs inspections, and ensures code compliance involving life safety and emergency management equipment and systems.
  • Performs follow-up communications, actions, and documentation. Reports and resolves deficiencies after each inspection.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the fire safety and emergency management programs including the ability to assess current programs to identify new performance goals, strategies, and metrics.
  • Accompanies local, state, and regulatory inspectors during fire, life safety and emergency management inspections. Inspects fire, life safety, surveillance, access controls, and emergency management equipment throughout UHP
  • Periodically tests fire alarms, fire detection systems, fire extinguishers, emergency lights and exit lights.
  • Keeps maintenance and inspection records on all emergency equipment. Maintains accurate filing system for environmental, fire, safety, and emergency management records.
  • Checks emergency power supply for life safety systems; operate systems on emergency power and periodically tests emergency power source under load.
  • Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Ensures compliance with organization-wide safety management and hazard elimination/prevention programs and procedures to ensure a safe workplace for all employees, contractors, and patients.
  • Maintains, updates, and ensures organizational adherence to the Emergency Management and Environment of Care manuals, ensuring they reflect current regulations, standards, and organizational practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree Required, Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred
  • The position requires knowledge and understanding of environmental safety regulations and standards, fire and non-fire safety compliance, emergency preparedness, and environment of care requirements.
  • 3-5 years minimum experience in facilities management.
  • Ideally possesses certifications in Life Safey Professional, Life Safety Specialist, and Fire Safety Certifications.
  • Familiarity with FDNY, Joint Commission, CMS, and Department of Health requirements.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communicator and motivator.
  • Ability to act decisively when responding to emergency situations

 

Starting Compensation: Minimum: $90,000 per annum; Maximum: $100,000 per annum.
