Job Description

Addiction Psychiatry Opportunity in the Heart of Pure Michigan!

Discover a Career Where Purpose Meets Paradise

Are you a fellowship-trained Addiction Psychiatrist looking to make a lasting impact? Do you crave meaningful clinical work in a setting that values innovation, collaboration, and whole-person care—without sacrificing your quality of life?

Welcome to Michigan. Not just a state, but a lifestyle.

We are seeking a compassionate, visionary Addiction Psychiatrist to join our dynamic, multidisciplinary behavioral health team in one of Michigan’s most vibrant communities. Whether you're drawn to the energy of Metro Detroit, the serene beauty of the Upper Peninsula, or the lakeside charm of Grand Rapids or Ann Arbor, this is your opportunity to practice in a place that truly has it all.

Why Choose Us?

  • Innovative Care Model: Join a forward-thinking team that integrates evidence-based addiction treatment with psychiatric care, therapy, and social support.
  • Multidisciplinary Team: Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, primary care physicians, and recovery coaches in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

Academic and Leadership Opportunities: CMU Health, located in Saginaw, Michigan, functions as the primary location for 8 residency training programs for Central Michigan University College of Medicine.

The addiction psychiatry opportunity is an academic faculty position at Assistant/Associate Professor level through CMU College of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry. This position will be responsible for direct patient care and will work as a leader of a multi-disciplinary team. Our patient care sites include not only psychiatry residents but also rotating residents from our internal medicine and family medicine programs and medical students.

The Psychiatry department values and supports the growth, academic development, and advancement of its faculty members. Our strong collaborative partnerships support our educational mission, and offer state-of-the-art facilities including a new, technologically advanced simulation training center.

  • Enjoy optional teaching, mentorship, and research affiliations with leading Michigan medical schools.
  • Flexible Scheduling + Competitive Compensation: Enjoy work-life balance, generous PTO, full benefits, and a salary package designed to recognize your expertise and dedication.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver expert psychiatric care to patients with substance use disorders
  • Work alongside addiction medicine docs, therapists, social workers, and peer recovery coaches
  • Create innovative treatment approaches using MAT, psychotherapy, and integrated models
  • Help train the next generation of clinicians (if you like teaching)
  • Shape policy and programs—yes, your voice matters here

What We’re Looking For

  • Board certified (or eligible) in Psychiatry
  • Fellowship training in Addiction Psychiatry (required)
  • Passion for patient-centered, stigma-free care
  • Bonus points for humor, curiosity, or a mild caffeine addiction

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • Excellent benefits package
  • Relocation Assistance
  • Malpractice/liability
  • License(s) expense
  • 403b CMU Health retirement plan

  Why Michigan?

  • Unrivaled Natural Beauty: Four seasons of scenic wonder—over 11,000 lakes, sprawling forests, and world-class hiking, kayaking, and skiing right in your backyard.
  • Culture + Community: From Ann Arbor’s intellectual buzz and Detroit’s musical legacy to Traverse City’s wine country and Mackinac Island’s historic charm, there's a Michigan town to match your vibe.
  • Affordable Living: Big-city opportunity with small-town charm—lower cost of living without compromising on quality of life.
  • Family Friendly: Top-ranked school systems, low crime, and welcoming communities make it an ideal place to raise a family—or find your next adventure.

Your Impact Starts Here

If you're ready to bring your expertise to a place where it’s needed—and where you’ll be truly valued—we’d love to talk. Join us in Michigan, where your work changes lives and your lifestyle feed your soul.

Michigan isn’t just where you work, it’s where you thrive.
